Dr. Raafay Sophie is a board-certified retina specialist and ophthalmic surgeon at Retina Associates of Michigan. He cares for patients with a wide range of medical and surgical retinal conditions, with particular interest in retinal vascular disease and complex diabetic eye disease. Dr. Sophie combines advanced surgical training with an active commitment to research that aims to improve real-world outcomes for patients.

After medical school at Aga Khan University, Dr. Sophie completed a research fellowship at Johns Hopkins University, an ophthalmology residency at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, and a vitreoretinal fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he performed more than 1,000 surgeries during training. He has authored over 35 peer-reviewed publications and has contributed book chapters and international presentations. As Director of Clinical Research, he helps bring clinical trials and new retinal therapies to the community.
