Dr. Peter Mellema

Dr. Peter A. Mellema is an ophthalmologist at Southdale Eye Clinic, which provides evaluation, treatment, and surgery for a wide range of eye problems. He monitors and treats a wide array of eye conditions including cataracts, glaucoma, eye infections, macular degeneration, and also performs routine eye exams.

Dr. Mellema has performed thousands of cataract surgeries, utilizing the latest lens technology such as toric astigmatism-correcting lenses and multifocal implants. He was the first in the Northland to implement the Ellex laser for floater treatment in 2013 and has since performed hundreds of these procedures.
