About Me
Dr. Patel is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in retinal diseases and surgery. She completed her undergraduate degree in neurobiology at Northwestern University and earned her medical degree from Rush University Medical College in Chicago. She remained at Rush to complete her ophthalmology residency, where she served as chief resident, and then pursued a two-year fellowship in retinal surgery at The Retina Institute in St. Louis.
As a retina specialist, Dr. Patel focuses on diagnosing and treating conditions such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal detachments. She is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists. Her involvement in clinical trials includes investigating new therapies for macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, and she has published her research in medical journals and presented at national conferences. Dr. Patel, a Tampa native, is dedicated to providing care to her home community through her clinics in Trinity and Palm Harbor.
