Dr. Nitin Nigam

Dr. Nitin Nigam is a retina specialist and eye surgeon who joined Palmetto Retina Center in April 2023. He has been in medical practice since 2006, bringing extensive experience from previous work in Michigan and North Carolina. Dr. Nigam is licensed in multiple states including Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Michigan, and Wisconsin, allowing him to serve a wide patient base.

Born and raised in India, he earned his medical degree, internship, and ophthalmology residency through a combined program at the Institute of Medical Sciences in Varanasi, India. He further specialized with a fellowship in Surgical Retina and Uveitis at Shiley Eye Center, University of California, San Diego, and a second surgical fellowship in Retina at Flinders Eye Center in South Australia.

Dr. Nigam specializes in the surgical and medical management of simple and complex vitreoretinal disorders and uveitis. He has a special interest in clinical trials and is actively involved in retinal research. He runs a monthly uveitis clinic at the Forest Drive location in Columbia and sees patients weekly in Aiken, providing comprehensive care for various retinal conditions.
