About Me
Dr. Nisha Acharya is the Elizabeth C. Proctor Distinguished Professor at the F.I. Proctor Foundation and holds appointments in the Departments of Ophthalmology, Epidemiology and Biostatistics at UCSF. She serves as the Director of the Uveitis and Ocular Inflammatory Disease Service, specializing in the diagnosis and management of ocular inflammatory conditions, including uveitis.
With fellowship training in cornea and uveitis, Dr. Acharya focuses her clinical practice on treating inflammatory eye diseases such as non-infectious intermediate, posterior, and panuveitis. Her approach integrates advanced clinical trials and epidemiological insights to optimize steroid-sparing therapies for patients.
Dr. Acharya leads several multicenter trials, including the FAST Uveitis Trial and the ADJUST trial for juvenile idiopathic arthritis-associated uveitis, emphasizing personalized treatment strategies. Her research utilizes large datasets to improve outcomes in conditions like herpes zoster ophthalmicus, ensuring that her clinical care is informed by the latest evidence.
