Dr. Nicholas Hackett

Dr. Alexandra May is an ophthalmologist with broad training across clinical care and vision science. She studied Brain and Cognitive Science at MIT, earned a master’s degree in Neuroscience from the University of Oxford, and received her medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. She completed her ophthalmology residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. May provides comprehensive eye care with an emphasis on clear communication and shared decision-making. She evaluates and treats common and complex conditions including cataracts, glaucoma, dry eye, diabetic eye disease, and age-related macular degeneration, and she helps patients choose advanced lens options when appropriate. Patients appreciate her thoughtful explanations and evidence-based guidance tailored to their daily activities and visual goals.

Dr. Alina Lou is a board-certified ophthalmologist at the Vanderbilt Eye Institute who provides comprehensive eye care for adults. She welcomes both routine and problem-focused visits and has particular interests in cataracts, glaucoma, dry eye disease, and diabetic eye disease. Dr. Lou offers medical and surgical management when appropriate, including modern cataract surgery, and partners closely with each patient to choose a plan that fits their goals and lifestyle. A graduate of the University of Michigan, Dr. Lou earned both her B.S. and M.D. in Ann Arbor before completing an internship at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit. She then moved to Nashville for ophthalmology residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she served as chief resident. Patients appreciate her clear explanations, calm bedside manner, and emphasis on education and prevention—whether that means a diabetic eye exam, ongoing glaucoma care, or support for dry eye symptoms. Outside the clinic, she enjoys hiking, trying new restaurants, and cooking.

Dr. Jeremy “Britt” Hatcher is an ophthalmologist serving patients across Middle Tennessee, including Franklin, Murfreesboro, Dickson, and surrounding communities. He specializes in cataract and refractive surgery, LASIK, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, and cosmetic facial and eyelid procedures. Patients appreciate his combination of advanced surgical skill, modern technology, and a calm, family-centered bedside manner. A graduate of Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and Vanderbilt Eye Institute, Dr. Hatcher trained in Tennessee’s leading ophthalmology residency program and completed additional refractive and mission-focused cataract training, including work at an Army base in Kentucky and manual small-incision cataract surgery abroad. He believes great outcomes start with honest, transparent communication and never pressures patients into upgrades or procedures that do not align with their goals. Dr. Hatcher partners closely with referring optometrists and is committed to making each step of the surgical journey—from consultation through recovery—seamless and personalized.
