Dr. Michelle Abou-Jaoude

Dr. Michelle Abou-Jaoude is a retina specialist who treats diseases of the macula, retina, and vitreous with a thoughtful, stepwise approach. She cares for people with diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal tears and detachments, macular holes, and vascular occlusions, and explains when injections, laser, or surgery are the safest and most effective options. An Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at UK HealthCare, Dr. Abou-Jaoude completed ophthalmology residency and a vitreo-retinal surgery fellowship at the University of Kentucky after earning her medical degree from the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University. She partners closely with the comprehensive eye care team to coordinate ongoing monitoring, answer questions in plain language, and help patients and families understand each visit’s results and next steps.
