About Me
Dr. Michael J. Pankratz is a board-certified ophthalmologist and refractive surgeon at Pankratz Eye Institute in Columbus, Indiana. He provides comprehensive medical and surgical eye care, treating conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, dry eye, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and other vision problems. Dr. Pankratz specializes in advanced cataract and LASIK surgery, helping patients achieve clearer vision through state-of-the-art techniques.
Originally from Carmel, Indiana, Dr. Pankratz completed his undergraduate studies at DePauw University and earned his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. He then completed an internship at Ball Memorial Hospital and a residency in ophthalmology at Indiana University, where he was the first resident to perform refractive surgery. With thousands of cataract and refractive procedures performed, he returned to Indiana in 2000 to establish the Pankratz Eye Institute.
Dr. Pankratz remains actively involved in advancing eye care through membership in national and international eye surgery associations. His practice offers a full range of diagnostic and treatment services, from routine eye exams to complex surgical interventions, with a focus on personalized patient care.
