About Me
Michael D Lewen, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in comprehensive ophthalmology with additional expertise in retinal and vitreous disorders. He provides care for adult and older adult patients, addressing a wide array of eye conditions. Dr. Lewen is part of the Allegheny Health Network (AHN), where he focuses on delivering personalized and effective treatments to improve vision and eye health.
His clinical interests include aniseikonia, anisometropia, choroidal neovascularization, cloudy vision, color blindness, conjunctival concretion, disorders of the vitreous, ectropion, eyelid trauma, foreign body in the eye, giant cell arteritis, growth on the eye, hemorrhagic conjunctivitis, hereditary retinal diseases, idiopathic orbital inflammatory disease, Lipiflow therapy, orbital cellulitis, refraction for eyeglasses, retinal damage, Stargardt macular degeneration, sudden vision loss, viral retinitis, and work-related vision screening. He is proficient in managing these conditions to help patients maintain optimal visual function.
Dr. Lewen earned his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine. He completed an internship at Pennsylvania Hospital, a residency in ophthalmology at the New England Eye Center, and a fellowship at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center & Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, he is committed to providing high-quality, evidence-based eye care to his community.
