About Me
Dr. Mercy Kibe is a board-certified vitreoretinal surgeon at Yale Eye Center. She provides medical and surgical care for diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, macular holes, retinal detachments, epiretinal membranes, and retinal vein or artery occlusions, and also treats ocular trauma. Her approach emphasizes careful diagnosis, clear discussion of options, and coordinated long-term follow-up so patients understand their condition and feel supported before and after procedures.
Dr. Kibe serves as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and participates in vitreoretinal fellowship training. Her academic interests include diabetic retinopathy, disparities in vision health and access to eye care, and global ophthalmology. After earning her medical degree, she completed an internal medicine internship and an ophthalmology residency at The Ohio State University, followed by a two-year fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery at Yale. She welcomes adult patients seeking second opinions or ongoing retina care and aims to match the latest evidence-based treatments with each patient’s goals.
