Dr. Matthew Thurtell is a neuro-ophthalmologist and neurologist who specializes in complex visual and eye movement disorders. He serves as the Director of the Neuro-Ophthalmology Service at the University of Iowa, where he is also an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences and an Associate Professor of Neurology. His clinical expertise includes the diagnosis and management of conditions such as idiopathic intracranial hypertension, optic neuropathies, and nystagmus.

Dr. Thurtell's research focuses on eye movement disorders, eye movement kinematics, and the use of optical coherence tomography in optic neuropathy and papilledema.
