Meet Dr. Randy Kardon
About Me
Dr. Randy H. Kardon is a neuro-ophthalmologist at University of Iowa Health Care. He specializes in conditions that affect the connection between the eyes and the brain, including double vision, optic nerve disorders, optic neuritis, abnormal eye movements, and visual field loss. He also treats patients with traumatic brain injuries and neurological conditions such as myasthenia gravis. Dr.
Kardon uses advanced diagnostic techniques such as electroretinography, optical coherence tomography, perimetry, and pupillometry to evaluate and manage complex visual and neurological issues. He holds the title of professor in the departments of Neurology and Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. Dr. Kardon earned his MD and PhD from the University of Iowa and completed his residency in ophthalmology and fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Kardon states that neuro-ophthalmology allows him to apply broad and deep knowledge of medicine and science to solve the most challenging problems.
