About Me
Matthew S. Chorost, MD, is a clinical assistant professor at the Dean McGee Eye Institute who focuses on cataract and refractive surgery as well as comprehensive eye care. He enjoys helping people see clearly again with personalized surgical plans and careful pre- and post-operative guidance. Before joining DMEI, Dr. Chorost served soldiers as an active-duty Army ophthalmologist, providing laser vision correction, implantable collamer lens (ICL) procedures, and refractive lens exchange, experiences that sharpened his attention to safety, precision, and communication.
Dr. Chorost earned both his undergraduate degree in microbiology and his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma. He completed an internship and ophthalmology residency at the National Capital Consortium/Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, where he also taught ocular trauma techniques to trainees. Today he brings that teaching mindset to clinic—explaining options in plain language and inviting questions—so patients can choose the path that best matches their vision needs and lifestyle.
