About Me
Dr. Martin Whitaker is the Founder and Medical Director of Riverside Eye Center, serving patients in Norway and Lewiston, Maine. As a comprehensive ophthalmologist, he provides eye care for conditions including cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration, along with routine eye examinations. His engineering background fuels a special interest in advanced technology, utilizing diagnostic tools like Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT) and modern treatments such as Avastin, Macugen, and Lucentis injections for retinal diseases.
Dr. Whitaker earned his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed his ophthalmology residency at the Eye Institute of the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. His hospital affiliations include active staff roles at Stephen’s Memorial Hospital and Central Maine Medical Center.
