About Me
Dr. J. Mark Engel is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in pediatric eye care. He completed subspecialty training in pediatric ophthalmology at Northwestern University and The Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Engel serves as Chief of Pediatric Ophthalmology at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and St. Peter's University Hospital, and is a Clinical Associate Professor at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He has pioneered techniques in adjustable sutures and nasolacrimal duct obstruction, and has authored papers in leading ophthalmic journals.
Dr. Engel has been recognized for his teaching excellence with the Ruth Steinman pediatric teaching award and the volunteer teacher of the year award. He also volunteers internationally with Healing the Children. His patients and their families value his compassionate care, particularly in managing conditions such as strabismus, nasolacrimal duct obstruction, and other pediatric eye conditions.
