About Me
Dr. Mark Gillespie is a board-certified ophthalmologist with over 35 years of experience, specializing in cataract, glaucoma, and LASIK surgeries. He graduated summa cum laude from Vanderbilt University and earned his medical degree from Vanderbilt Medical School. Dr. Gillespie completed his medical internship at Evanston Hospital near Chicago and his ophthalmology residency at the University of Virginia. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is an active member of several specialty societies including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and the Refractive Surgery Alliance.
Dr. Gillespie is dedicated to providing each patient with 100% of his attention to help them achieve their vision goals. He finds inspiration in the life-changing improvements his patients experience the first day after cataract or LASIK surgery, and he is committed to personalized care for every individual.
Originally from the Chicago area, Dr. Gillespie and his wife, Carol, now live full-time in Fort Myers, Florida, after vacationing there for over eight years. He enjoys golf, tennis, fishing, and visiting his four grown children and two grandchildren.
