Dr. Maria Adams

Maria L. Adams, DO, is a comprehensive ophthalmologist specializing in cataract and refractive surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville. She performs laser-assisted cataract surgery and counsels patients on lens options to match lifestyle and vision needs. Dr. Adams also offers laser vision correction and works closely with patients to set clear expectations, plan recovery, and support long-term eye health.

She completed a fellowship in refractive cataract and corneal surgery at The Eye Institute of West Florida after ophthalmology residency at Michigan State University–Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital. She earned her DO at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and serves as an assistant professor. Dr. Adams is known for careful pre-operative measurements, attention to detail in the OR, and approachable, practical communication that helps patients feel prepared every step of the way.
