About Me

Dr. Marah K.H. Shelbayh is a cornea fellow at the UPMC Vision Institute whose interests center on restoring clarity and comfort to the ocular surface. Trained in ophthalmology through the Royal Medical Services of Jordan and medical school at the Hashemite University, she brings a global perspective to complex corneal disease, transplantation, and access-to-care initiatives. Her work has spanned humanitarian outreach and public health efforts, including programs that expand donation and surgical capacity for patients with corneal blindness. Patients appreciate her compassionate, community-minded approach and her commitment to evidence-based, precision treatment. In clinic and the operating room, Dr. Shelbayh focuses on diagnosing the cause of vision changes, reducing pain and inflammation, and tailoring surgical and nonsurgical options to each patient’s goals. She collaborates closely with optometry, contact lens, and subspecialty teams to support rehabilitation after injury, infection, or degenerative disease. Dr. Shelbayh’s training in corneal transplantation techniques and ocular surface reconstruction informs her comprehensive care for both routine and complex cases.
