Dr. Lucas Bonafede

Dr. Pauline Dmitriev is a cornea, external disease, and refractive surgeon at the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center. She evaluates and treats cataracts and a broad range of corneal and ocular-surface disorders, and offers surgical and non-surgical options tailored to each patient’s needs. Her goal is to combine advanced techniques with thoughtful counseling so patients understand their choices and feel confident in their care plan. Dr. Dmitriev earned her medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine, completed ophthalmology residency at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, and advanced fellowship training in cornea, external disease, and refractive surgery at Michigan Medicine. She is involved in research on corneal transplantation, eye banking, and global ophthalmology, and is dedicated to teaching and collaborative, evidence-based care.

Dr. Otana Agape Jakpor is a clinical instructor in ophthalmology at University of Michigan Health with subspecialty training in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus. She provides family-centered care for children and teens with vision and eye-alignment disorders and sees adults with strabismus who are seeking functional and cosmetic alignment improvement. Dr. Jakpor received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School, completed ophthalmology residency at the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center, and pursued fellowships in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus and in global ophthalmology at Michigan Medicine. She practices at Kellogg Eye Center locations, where she focuses on attentive communication, child-friendly examinations, and coordinated plans that support long-term visual development.

Dr. Carin Rojas is an ophthalmologist who provides thoughtful, technology-forward care for adults with cataract and glaucoma. She partners closely with patients to explain options in plain language and tailor treatment plans to lifestyle and visual goals. Her clinical interests span modern cataract surgery with astigmatism-correcting and other advanced lens implants, laser procedures performed in the office, and both minimally invasive and traditional glaucoma operations. Before medicine, Dr. Rojas graduated in the top 10% of her class at the United States Naval Academy and served as a commissioned officer, experiences that shaped her calm, team-oriented approach in the operating room. She earned her medical degree at Northwestern University and completed ophthalmology residency at the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center, followed by a dedicated glaucoma fellowship at Michigan. Whether discussing the fine points of lens selection or planning a stepwise strategy to control eye pressure, she focuses on education, shared decision-making, and durable visual outcomes.
