Dr. Lloyd Aiello

Dr. Lloyd Paul Aiello is an ophthalmologist at Harvard Medical School and the Joslin Diabetes Center, where he serves as the Charles Webster Downer Professor of Ophthalmology. He specializes in diabetic eye disease, including conditions such as diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macular edema. As Director of the Beetham Eye Institute, he leads a team dedicated to preserving vision in patients with diabetes.

Dr. Aiello holds leadership roles as Vice Chair for Centers of Excellence at Harvard's Department of Ophthalmology and Co-Director of the Diabetic Eye Disease Center of Excellence. His research in ocular genomics contributes to advances in diagnosing and treating diabetic-related eye conditions. He also participates in training the next generation of ophthalmologists through the International Research and Training Program.
