About Me

Larissa Gouvea, MD, is a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist at MUSC Health’s Storm Eye Institute with a unique background spanning both pediatric and adult anterior segment care. She treats corneal and ocular surface diseases, performs cataract and refractive procedures, and provides specialized care for children with corneal disorders, pediatric uveitis, and complex anterior segment conditions. Dr. Gouvea completed ophthalmology residency at the Eye Hospital of Paraná in Brazil, followed by cornea, external disease, and refractive surgery fellowship training at the University of Toronto (Toronto Western Hospital) and a dedicated pediatric cornea and external disease fellowship at SickKids. She then pursued an additional fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus at MUSC. Recognized with multiple ASCRS Best Paper awards, she is active in research and education, including instructing laser refractive skills courses at the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
