Dr. Kunyong Xu

Dr. Kunyong Xu, MD, MHSc, FRCSC is a vitreoretinal surgeon who manages medical and surgical diseases of the retina. He is board certified in both the United States and Canada and provides comprehensive, evidence-based care for conditions such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, retinal detachment, and complex surgical retina problems. Patients value his careful evaluation, clear communication, and steady presence throughout treatment and recovery.

Dr. Xu earned a master’s degree in Epidemiology from the University of Toronto and his medical degree from McMaster University. He completed ophthalmology residency at Queen’s University in Canada and a medical and surgical retina fellowship at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City, training with internationally recognized specialists. His scholarly interests include macular degeneration, proliferative vitreoretinopathy, infectious endophthalmitis, and advancing surgical techniques.
