About Me
Dr. Karanjit Kooner is an Associate Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at UT Southwestern Medical Center who specializes in treating glaucoma and cataracts. With a focus on early detection and follow-up, he emphasizes a holistic approach to glaucoma management that considers a patient's diet, lifestyle, and exercise in conjunction with medical and surgical treatments.
Dr. Kooner offers advanced diagnostic methods including optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) and ultrasound biomicroscopy, as well as treatments such as micropulse laser trabeculoplasty (MLT). He is actively involved in developing a novel glaucoma shunt and smart contact lenses for measuring eye pressure, and his research includes the Dallas Glaucoma Registry and artificial intelligence applications in glaucoma.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Kooner is dedicated to teaching residents and fellows, including international trainees, and has participated in humanitarian eye care missions in Asia, South America, and Africa.
