About Me
Dr. Jorge J. Rivera is a board certified ophthalmologist who has been in private practice since 2003. He is double fellowship trained in glaucoma and cornea/refractive surgery, providing expert care for a range of eye conditions. Dr. Rivera founded Eye Consultants of Rhode Island in 2018, bringing years of experience from his previous practice in Southcoast Massachusetts.
Dr. Rivera completed an internship in Internal Medicine at the Hospital of Saint Raphael/Yale University School of Medicine, followed by an ophthalmology residency and glaucoma fellowship at the New England Eye Center/Tufts University School of Medicine. He also pursued a fellowship in cornea, external diseases, and refractive surgery at Barnes Jewish Hospital/Washington University School of Medicine. He serves as Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and has received awards for outstanding teaching and cataract surgery instruction.
Dr. Rivera is fluent in Spanish and has conversational knowledge of Portuguese.
