Dr. Jorge Calzada

Dr. Jorge Calzada is a retina surgeon based in Memphis, Tennessee. He specializes in the surgical treatment of retinal and vitreous conditions, performing retinal microsurgery for a variety of vitreoretinal disorders. Dr.

Calzada views the retina as an extension of the brain, applying a neuroscience perspective to his clinical practice. He graduated valedictorian from the University of Panama School of Medicine and has engaged in retinal neurobiology research, studying retinal ganglion cell death and retinal transplantation. He has also served as a professor at a retina fellowship training program. In addition to his work in the United States, Dr. Calzada operates a clinic in Panama City, Panama.
