About Me

Dr. Richard E. Sievers earned his medical degree and completed his residency in ophthalmology at Bowman Gray School of Medicine. He went on to complete a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery in Memphis before founding Mid-South Retina in 1984.

In addition to his clinical practice, he serves as Associate Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Tennessee and has been recognized multiple times as teacher of the year. Dr. Sievers currently sees patients at his main office in Memphis and at a satellite office in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and he also teaches residents at the Memphis VA ophthalmology clinic. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists, and the Memphis Eye Society.
