About Me
Dr. Johnstone M. Kim is an ophthalmologist specializing in vitreoretinal surgery and diseases. He earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine and completed his ophthalmology residency at the Emory University Eye Center. His advanced fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery and diseases was completed at the Kresge Eye Institute of Wayne State University.
Prior to joining Midwest Retina, Dr. Kim served as a full-time faculty member at Wayne State University School of Medicine and the Kresge Eye Institute, where he was involved in training medical students, ophthalmology residents, and vitreoretinal fellows. He has contributed to publications in medical journals and lectures at local and national ophthalmology conferences. His clinical research has focused on new treatments for macular degeneration and other retinal disorders.
Dr. Kim's clinical practice is dedicated to the diagnosis and management of diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, retinal vascular disease, and complications related to cataract surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retinal Specialists.
