About Me
Dr. Franklin is a pediatric ophthalmologist at UK HealthCare who serves as Director of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus. He treats a wide range of childhood eye conditions, with a special focus on pediatric glaucoma—a condition he is uniquely qualified to treat in the state. His practice also addresses strabismus (misaligned eyes) in both children and adults, as well as hemangiomas and vascular malformations affecting the eye.
Patients describe Dr. Franklin as an excellent listener who takes time to explain conditions and treatments in a way that both children and parents can understand. He is known for his gentle bedside manner, making an effort to connect with young patients before any exam or procedure. Families appreciate his thoroughness, patience, and compassionate approach to care.
Dr. Franklin completed his medical degree and ophthalmology residency at the University of Louisville, followed by a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at Washington University in St. Louis. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and holds the rank of Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology.
