About Me
Dr. John Sutphin is an ophthalmologist focused on cornea and external disease and refractive surgery. He is the Luther and Ardis Fry Professor and Chair of Ophthalmology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. His research interests include ocular infectious disease, corneal confocal microscopy, and corneal transplant survival. He also pioneered laser refractive surgery for Navy Seals during his time in the U.S. Navy.
Dr. Sutphin has extensive experience in ophthalmic education, having trained numerous residents and fellows at the University of Kansas, the University of Iowa, and the Naval Regional Medical Center in San Diego. He has been involved with the American Academy of Ophthalmology's educational programs and served as a section editor for The Ocular Surface. He treats conditions affecting the cornea and external eye, and performs refractive surgery.
