Dr. Jerry Shields

Dr. Jerry R. Shields is a board-certified ophthalmologist providing care at Cascade Eye & Skin Centers in Puyallup, Washington. He has extensive experience in refractive surgery including LASIK and PRK, small-incision cataract surgery, and refractive cataract surgery with lifestyle and astigmatism correcting lenses. Dr. Shields has also published on the early detection and treatment of glaucoma and has been invited to lecture nationwide on cataract surgery advancements.

Dr. Shields completed his undergraduate education at Wake Forest University, where he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree, and earned his Doctorate of Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia. He completed both his internship and residency at the University of Washington. He is board certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.

With over 15 years of practice, Dr. Shields takes a personal approach to patient care, building relationships that extend beyond eye health.
