About Me
Dr. James T. Murphy is a board-certified, fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist who also offers high-volume cataract care. He has particular expertise in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), glaucoma implants, and combined cataract–glaucoma procedures, as well as laser-assisted cataract surgery with advanced lens options. Dr. Murphy approaches each visit as a partnership, explaining options in clear language and tailoring care to each patient’s goals. He cares for patients in Connecticut and speaks English and Spanish.Dr. Murphy completed ophthalmology residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and a fellowship in glaucoma and complex anterior segment surgery at the Edward S. Harkness Eye Institute (Columbia University–New York Presbyterian Medical Center). He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin and holds undergraduate degrees from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. His interests include surgical innovation, patient education, and expanding access to high-quality glaucoma care.
