About Me
Dr. Jacob J. Abou-Hanna is a comprehensive ophthalmologist at Illinois Eye Center who provides medical and surgical care for common eye conditions, with a special interest in cataract surgery. He enjoys helping patients understand their options and partners closely with the practice’s subspecialists when advanced care is needed. Dr. Abou-Hanna earned his MD from the University of Michigan Medical School, where he received a Distinction in Medical Education and the Edward P. & Kathryn M. Bellas Scholarship. He completed a preliminary internal medicine year and an ophthalmology residency at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, and is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He sees patients in Peoria, Pekin, and Washington. Outside clinic, he has authored peer-reviewed publications and created learning resources for trainees, and enjoys soccer, hiking, and time with family.
