About Me
Dr. Igor I. Bussel is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained surgeon specializing in glaucoma, complex cataract surgery, and advanced anterior segment care. He earned his MD at Rosalind Franklin University, where he also completed master’s degrees in biomedical science and healthcare administration. He finished residency in ophthalmology at the University of Pittsburgh and a glaucoma and advanced anterior segment fellowship at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He previously served on faculty at UCI Gavin Herbert Eye Institute and directed the Glaucoma Section at VA Long Beach.
Dr. Bussel’s academic work spans micro-invasive glaucoma surgical devices, novel imaging modalities, and surgical outcomes; he has authored peer-reviewed publications and presented nationally and internationally. His care philosophy emphasizes clear education, shared decision-making, and surgical excellence to help patients preserve and restore sight.
