About Me
Dr. Hui Zhao's journey in ophthalmology began with scientific research at Washington University, where she made pioneering discoveries about age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, and her findings were published in prestigious journals. Motivated to make a direct impact on patient care, she transitioned from research to clinical practice.
She completed her internship in General Surgery and ophthalmology residency at Washington University, followed by a fellowship in Cornea and External Eye Diseases at the Francis I. Proctor Foundation, University of California, San Francisco. During her fellowship, she managed complex ocular surface and anterior segment diseases. Prior to joining Kitsap Eye Physicians, she worked at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Sacramento, CA, performing a wide range of ophthalmic surgeries.
Dr. Zhao specializes in medical and surgical treatment of eye diseases such as dry eye disease, glaucoma, diabetes-related eye disease, macular degeneration, and advanced cataract surgery. She emphasizes open communication to ensure patients receive the best possible care. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the American Medical Association, and the Washington Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.
