About Me
Dr. Hui Zhao is an ophthalmologist who began her career in scientific research, making pioneering discoveries about age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy at Washington University. Her work, published in prestigious ophthalmology journals, led to new understandings of these common causes of blindness. Motivated to directly impact patient care, she transitioned to clinical practice.
Dr. Zhao completed her internship in General Surgery and residency in Ophthalmology at Washington University, followed by a fellowship in Cornea and External Eye Diseases at the renowned Francis I. Proctor Foundation at the University of California, San Francisco. During her fellowship, she managed a large caseload of complex ocular surface and anterior segment diseases. She previously worked at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Sacramento, performing a wide range of ophthalmic surgeries. Dr. Zhao's expertise includes medical and surgical treatment of dry eyes, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, and state-of-the-art cataract surgery. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of several professional societies.
