About Me
Dr. Hossein Asghari is a cornea and cataract specialist who cares for routine and complex anterior segment problems. He performs full- and partial-thickness corneal transplantation, advanced cataract surgery including cases that require iris repair or lens suturing, and amniotic membrane transplantation for non-healing surface disease. Patients also see him for injuries, chemical burns, infections, and difficult ocular surface conditions related to illnesses such as GVHD or Stevens–Johnson syndrome.
Dr. Asghari is an assistant professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. His training spans international and U.S. programs, with residency and fellowship experience in Tehran followed by a cornea fellowship at the University of Louisville. He is active in research on less-invasive approaches for corneal disorders and cataracts, and he is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He partners closely with patients to build practical, stepwise care plans that protect comfort, function, and long-term vision.
