About Me

Dr. Gil Binenbaum is Chief of the Division of Ophthalmology at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and holds the Mabel E. Leslie Endowed Chair in Pediatric Ophthalmology. He is an associate professor of ophthalmology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr.

Binenbaum sees patients at Children's Hospital's Wood Center and the Specialty Care Center in Voorhees, New Jersey. His clinical expertise includes pediatric ophthalmology, with a focus on conditions such as amblyopia, pediatric and adult strabismus, retinopathy of prematurity, and abusive head trauma and associated ocular findings. Dr. Binenbaum also leads the inpatient ophthalmology consultation service and is active in clinical research, serving as principal investigator of a NIH-sponsored multi-center retinopathy of prematurity study and researching retinal hemorrhage in children with abusive head trauma. He mentors students and trainees and teaches medical school classes at the University of Pennsylvania.
