About Me
Gholam A. Peyman, M.D., FACS, is a world-renowned ophthalmologist and retina surgeon celebrated for his groundbreaking invention of LASIK eye surgery, which has transformed vision correction for millions. His patient-centered approach emphasizes treating the whole person, integrating knowledge from all body systems to diagnose and manage eye diseases effectively. With over 40 years of expertise, Dr. Peyman combines ophthalmology with engineering and pharmacology to pioneer advanced surgical techniques and treatments.
Dr. Peyman's innovative contributions include over 200 US patents for medical devices, intra-ocular drug delivery systems, and diagnostic methods. He has authored more than 850 scientific articles and 10 books, significantly advancing ophthalmic literature. As a dedicated educator, he has trained over 200 fellows in vitreoretinal diseases and held prestigious academic roles, such as professor at Tulane University School of Medicine and the University of Arizona. His work has earned him numerous accolades, including induction into the Hall of Fame of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
