About Me
Dr. George D. Fivgas is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of retinal and vitreous diseases. He completed his medical degree at Emory University School of Medicine, followed by an internship in medicine, a residency in ophthalmology, and a fellowship in retina and vitreous.
He has been providing care to patients in Baton Rouge since 2007 at Eye Medical Center. His clinical expertise includes macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, retinal vascular disorders, uveitis, and ocular trauma. Dr. Fivgas is a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists and the American College of Surgeons, and he served as Chief of Ophthalmology at Our Lady of the Lake from 2009 to 2011. He offers both medical and surgical treatment options for complex retinal conditions.
