About Me
Dr. George B. Peters III is a board-certified ophthalmologist and retina specialist with a focus on medical retina and inflammatory eye disease. He treats conditions including uveitis, diabetic retinopathy, and age-related macular degeneration, and he emphasizes individualized care plans tailored to each patient’s diagnosis, needs, and goals.
Raised in Eastern Maine, Dr. Peters studied biomedical engineering at Boston University and earned a master’s degree at the University of Maine before attending the University of Vermont College of Medicine. He completed internship training at Maine Medical Center and ophthalmology residency at Albany Medical College Lions Eye Institute.
He pursued advanced fellowships in ocular immunology and uveitis at the Johns Hopkins University Wilmer Eye Institute and in vitreoretinal surgery at the University of Edinburgh Alexandra Eye Pavilion. His academic and research interests have included intravitreal drug administration and emerging therapies for uveitis, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration. In clinic, he focuses on helping patients understand their options and move forward with confidence.
