About Me
Dr. Gena Heidary is a pediatric ophthalmologist and neuro-ophthalmologist at Boston Children's Hospital, where she serves as Director of the Neuro-Ophthalmology Service and Director of the Pediatric Ophthalmology Fellowship Program. She is also an Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Heidary specializes in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of pediatric eye conditions, including strabismus (misaligned eyes), amblyopia (lazy eye), Duane syndrome, optic nerve gliomas, and neurofibromatosis-related eye issues. She has particular expertise in neuro-ophthalmology, caring for children with complex conditions affecting the visual pathways, such as optic neuritis, papilledema, and idiopathic intracranial hypertension.
Dr. Heidary leads the Neuro-Ophthalmology Service and the Pediatric Strabismus Service, and she is affiliated with the Comprehensive Pediatric Ophthalmology Service and the Ocular Oncology Center. Her clinical approach emphasizes comprehensive, family-centered care for children with both common and rare eye disorders. With a background that includes fellowships in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus as well as neuro-ophthalmology, Dr. Heidary brings a depth of specialized training to her practice.
