Dr. Frank Cao
Ophthalmology – Glaucoma Specialist
About Me
Dr. Frank Xiaoyu Cao is a board-certified ophthalmologist with a subspecialty focus in glaucoma care. He provides comprehensive evaluations and longitudinal management for patients with open-angle and angle-closure glaucoma, using both medical therapy and advanced laser and surgical options. Dr. Cao values a collaborative approach and spends time explaining findings, risks, and benefits so each person can make informed decisions that fit their goals and lifestyle. After medical school at Wayne State University School of Medicine, Dr. Cao completed ophthalmology training at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. At Kaiser Permanente, he works within an integrated team to coordinate care before and after procedures, monitor visual function, and optimize pressure control over time. He also performs cataract surgery when it will improve vision or assist in glaucoma management and discusses minimally invasive techniques when appropriate. Patients can expect clear communication, evidence-based treatment plans, and careful follow-up geared toward protecting sight for the long term.
