About Me
Dr. Derek Han is an ophthalmologist and cataract surgeon who provides comprehensive eye care with an emphasis on clear communication and patient comfort. He helps patients understand their diagnosis and options so they can feel confident moving forward with treatment.
He earned an undergraduate degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering before completing medical training at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center. After an internship, he returned to Texas Tech to complete ophthalmology residency training and served as Chief Resident during his final year.
In practice, Dr. Han cares for patients with cataracts and vision changes that affect everyday activities like reading and driving. He also evaluates and treats common eye conditions seen in general ophthalmology, including routine vision needs and pterygium. Patients appreciate his thorough, thoughtful approach and his commitment to answering questions in plain language. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, and English.
