Dr. Derek Sprunger

Dr. Derek Sprunger is a pediatric ophthalmologist at Indiana University School of Medicine, where he serves as Clinical Associate Professor of Ophthalmology. He specializes in the surgical treatment of strabismus (eye misalignment) and nystagmus (involuntary eye movement) in children and adults. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Sprunger has held leadership roles in national and international ophthalmology organizations, including serving as president of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS), the International Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Council (IPOSC), and the Indiana Academy of Ophthalmology (IAO).

Dr. Sprunger has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Senior Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Lifetime Achievement Award from AAPOS. He has been named Ophthalmologist of the Year in the state of Indiana on two occasions and has a long history of training residents and fellows.

With over 100 publications and book chapters to his name, Dr. Sprunger is committed to advancing the field of pediatric ophthalmology through research and education. He sees patients at the Glick Eye Institute in Indianapolis.
