About Me
Dr. David Chia is a board-certified ophthalmologist who has been providing eye care at Irvine Eye Medical Group since 2006. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, where he served as Chief Resident, following a transitional medicine internship in Pennsylvania. Dr. Chia earned his medical degree from the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine and also holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of California, Irvine.
He performs hundreds of surgical procedures each year, including cataract surgery, refractive surgery, eyelid surgery, and cosmetic eye surgery. Dr. Chia is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American College of Surgeons, reflecting his commitment to high standards in eye care. He also serves as a volunteer clinical instructor for the UC Irvine ophthalmology program and is on staff at Hoag Presbyterian Hospital. His leadership in the field includes serving as President of the Orange County Society of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Chia is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Spanish, allowing him to connect with a diverse patient population. He returned to his hometown of Irvine to join his mother in practice and is dedicated to serving the eye care needs of the Southern California community.
