About Me
Dr. David H. Abramson is a board-certified ophthalmologist and ophthalmic oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where he serves as Chief of the Ophthalmic Oncology Service. He specializes in diagnosing and treating cancers of the eye, including retinoblastoma and uveal melanoma. Dr. Abramson pioneered the use of high-concentration, low-dose chemotherapy (ophthalmic artery chemosurgery) for retinoblastoma, a technique that has allowed most children to avoid eye removal while preserving vision. He also has expertise in brachytherapy, proton beam radiation, and intravitreal chemotherapy for eye cancers.
At MSK, Dr. Abramson collaborates with specialists in pediatrics, genetics, and radiation oncology to provide coordinated, state-of-the-art care. He treats patients with eye melanoma, orbital tumors, and retinoblastoma, offering access to novel therapies and clinical trials. His research has been widely published, and he has received numerous honors, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
