About Me
Dr. David Brown is a medical and surgical retina specialist who treats a range of conditions affecting the macula and retina. His clinical expertise includes age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion, macular holes, macular pucker, and inherited retinal dystrophies. He has been involved in research that has helped shape current standards of care for these conditions, and he serves as a consultant retina specialist for NASA.
Dr. Brown has pioneered subretinal gene therapy techniques used for age-related macular degeneration and inherited retinal dystrophies. He is the director of the Greater Houston Retina Research Center and holds a clinical professorship in ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine, where he also serves as vice-chair for research at the Blanton Eye Institute at Houston Methodist Hospital.
