About Me
Dan A. Gong, MD, is a vitreoretinal surgeon at Mass Eye and Ear and an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School. He specializes in the medical and surgical management of retinal disease, including urgent conditions such as retinal detachment as well as chronic problems like diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration. As Associate Director of Retinal Imaging, Dr. Gong helps advance how clinicians diagnose and track disease, pairing cutting-edge imaging with thoughtful, evidence-based care.
Dr. Gong graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College and earned his MD with honors at Yale School of Medicine. He completed ophthalmology residency at Columbia University Medical Center/NewYork-Presbyterian, serving as Chief Resident, followed by a two-year vitreoretinal fellowship at Mass Eye and Ear. Recognized with a Heed Fellowship and the Robert Brockhurst Academic Development Award, he mentors trainees and collaborates across teams to deliver precise, timely treatment tailored to each patient’s vision goals.
