About Me
Dr. Christopher Hwang is an ophthalmologist with advanced training in uveitis, ocular immunology, medical retina, and vitreoretinal surgery. He earned a degree in mathematics from Dartmouth College and then completed the Medical Scientist Training Program at Emory University School of Medicine, receiving combined MD/PhD degrees.
He completed an intern year at ChristianaCare Hospital in Delaware and ophthalmology residency at the Scheie Eye Institute at the University of Pennsylvania, where he received the Heed Ophthalmic Foundation Fellowship award in his senior year. Dr. Hwang then trained at the National Eye Institute at the National Institutes of Health, completing a fellowship in uveitis and ocular immunology/medical retina.
He went on to complete a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Washington University in St Louis and joined Retina Consultants of Minnesota in 2022. He is active in national ophthalmology and retina organizations and is committed to careful evaluation and clear explanations for patients with complex retinal and inflammatory eye disease.
