About Me

Dr. Christian Mays joined the Eye Guys in 2024 and specializes in glaucoma in addition to cataracts and refractive surgery. Dr. Mays received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama and obtained his doctorate of medicine from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine. Dr. Mays completed his internship year at Brookwood Baptist Health System and his ophthalmology residency at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System in Richmond. After residency, he elected to pursue an additional year of subspecialty training, completing a glaucoma fellowship under instruction of the internationally renowned glaucoma faculty at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. Dr. Mays is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the American Glaucoma Society, the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology and the Medical Association of Georgia.

Dr. Mays is certified with the LenSx femtosecond refractive cataract surgery system as well as the Wavelight Refractive Suite Systems for LASIK and PRK with Wavefront and Contoura technologies. He is also a certified provider of EVO ICL, offering advanced vision correction for patients who may not be candidates for LASIK.

A native of the South, he is ecstatic to be back in Georgia. On afternoons and weekends, you may find him jogging along the Augusta Canal trails on the Savannah River or watching football with family and friends.
