About Me
Dr. Charles A. Kirby is an ophthalmologist in Chattanooga, Tennessee who has been serving the community since 1982. He specializes in cataract surgery and lens implant procedures, with extensive experience in small incision cataract surgery and phacoemulsification. Dr. Kirby was among the early adopters of multifocal intraocular lenses and has performed thousands of lens implant procedures since receiving FDA approval for multifocal implants in 1997. He also serves as a clinical instructor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine.
Dr. Kirby completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Alabama - Birmingham and the Eye Foundation Hospital after earning his medical degree from the University of Tennessee. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and holds additional certification from the American Board of Eye Surgeons in Cataract and Implant Surgery. Recognized by his peers, Dr. Kirby was honored with the "Doctor's Doctor" award in Ophthalmology in 1993 and has been a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons since 1985.
